Laser Skin Resurfacing
Laser skin resurfing is used to reduce blemishes, fine lines, scars and other uneven pigmentation. Usually this treatment is carried out by a trained operator with relevant skills and experience in an establishment registered by the healthcare commission.
The laser beam will remove the top layer of the skin. So when the skin heals and grows back, it will be without the scars and other blemishes that were previously there. So this treatment is referred to as ablative.
The treatment is provided by a local anaesthetic. The patient's eyes must be protected with specially designed goggles. The treatment can even take up to 30 minutes and may cause some pain. There is an elaborate skincare regime in the weeks followed by the procedure. It is very demanding and extremely important to be followed strictly. The skincare regime includes rigorous cleansing of the skin for every 2-3 hours and a thorough moisturizing by using the products prescribed by the doctors.
