Hair Transplant
Hair transplant refers to the surgical procedures used to replace the hair in the areas of baldness. It should be carried only by those who are trained and those with relevant experience and skills. They should have had acquired experience from an establishment registered with the health care commission.
Usually hair transplant takes place under the control of local anaesthic. The sessions of the treatment depends upon the number of hairs being transplanted. Every session will last for two to eight hours. In each session generally 1, 000 to 2, 000 hair follicles are transplanted. But larger areas of hair loss may require up to 4, 000 follicles of hair per session. Since each session takes many hours, people choose to have two or three different sessions.
The surgeon usually anaesthetizes an area in the head, the area where the hair generally grows thickly. He then picks up one to eight hair follicles and transplants it in the area required.
