Dermal filler is made out of a variety of materials. It is used to plump up fine lines, wrinkles, scars and augment in the lips by restoring volume and definition. The treatment should be given only by medical professionals. But in practice, doctors and beauty therapists provide this treatment.
Dermal filler produces either permanent or temporary effects based on the kind of filler used. But any filler should meet the requirements of the Medical Device Directives. The approved materials will be CE -marked to indicate that the manufacturer has verified the product. Moreover, it will not pose danger to the health of the patients and safety of the patients is assured.
Some dermal filler are derived from collagen whereas others come from a bovine source and some from porcine. Dermal fillers are also synthetically produced in laboratory and are derived from hyaluronic acid. Fillers that are made out of collagen will usually require a skin test.
