Cosmetic Plastic Rhinoplasty Surgery
Rhinoplasty refers to surgery that involves improving the function and appearance of the nose. It is also a type of plastic surgery which is commonly called as nose job. It is performed for aesthetic or reconstructive purposes. It is mainly performed to correct birth defects or breathing problems. It can also be performed with other surgeries like chin augmentation to achieve aesthetic goals. This surgery was introduced by Sushruta who is regarded as "father of surgery".
This surgery is performed under a general or local anesthetic. Incisions are also made inside the nostrils. At times, incisions are also made on the columella, the skin that separates the nostrils. This surgery is done to reshape the cartilage and bone causing deformity.
It is also to strengthen or increase the structure of the nose. It is sometimes done to improve the breathing or other functions of the nose. In some cases, a synthetic implant is used to reconstruct the structure of the damaged nose.
