Cheek augmentation

Cheek augmentation refers to a cosmetic surgical procedure designed to highlight the cheekbones in a person's face. Cheekbones have been reckoned as a sign of beauty. Both men and women generally like to have cheek bones.

Prominent cheekbones can be secured by simply placing an implant on top of their cheekbones. Generally an incision will be made by a plastic surgeon in the upper mouth near the top of the gum line and slide the implant into place. External incisions can be made near the eyes also. But the downside is it can result in a visible scar.

There is another approach called intraoral approach where the incision is made inside the mouth. But this method carries higher risk of infection because of the presence of bacteria in the mouth. Cheek implants can be made using different materials depending upon the preferred sizes of the patients. The most commonly used material is solid silicone. Apart from that, expanded polytetraflauoroethylene is also used as it is said to integrate well internal tissue.
