Men Seeking Cosmetic Surgery On The Increase

Most of us have gotten used to the idea that it is normal to want to change your natural beauty and looks by undergoing some kind of cosmetic surgery. Enhancing our looks and changing the way we look (and feel) about ourselves has become a completely normal thing to do. Years ago surgery was something that was recommended by a doctor as a result of some kind of physical complaint or problem. Nowadays we ring a surgeon for a different looking nose.

When we think of people going in for some kind of cosmetic surgery we invariably tend to think of women. Breast enhancement, liposuction and face changing surgery are accepted by our society. However we tend to forget that more and more men are interested in enhancing their looks. The American Society Of Plastic Surgeons has shown in reports that the number of men applying for cosmetic procedures has gone up significantly. Since 2000 44% more men have applied for a cosmetic procedure. More than a million men visited a clinic for a cosmetic surgery procedure in 2005. The most favored treatments and cosmetic procedures for men are rhinoplasty (nose corrections) and botox treatments. Dermabrashion and face-lifts are also popular and fit in with our society's trend when it comes to looking as young as possible.
