New Breast Implants for Cosmetic Surgery

A common cosmetic surgery for women is breast augmentation which is a procedure where one or both breasts are surgically enlarged by placing an implant under the tissue of the chest. One of the biggest issues with this cosmetic surgery is the fact that after the procedure is done if the woman is not satisfied with the size the procedure must be redone to insert a new size.

However, a new option has been found for women. There are breast implants that now allow doctors to adjust the size of the implants after the surgery has been complete. During the procedure a fill tube and port is temporarily left in place. After three months when the swelling has gone down a woman can have the size adjusted by adding or removing the amount of saline in the implant. For six months after the surgery corrections in size can be made. Once the tube is removed the valve is self-sealing and seals off the implant.

While these new implants are slightly more expensive it is only about a hundred dollar more cost than the regular breast implants. In the United States last year over 350,000 breast augmentation cosmetic surgeries were preformed. This cosmetic surgery is typically performed on women between the ages of nineteen and thirty-four.
